Of the total Rs. 5.76 lakh crore of SIP AUM, 21% i.e. Rs. 1.19 lakh crore have been around for over 5 years, shows the latest AMFI data.
In terms of the number of SIP accounts, 8% i.e. 43.33 lakh of the total 5.28 crore accounts have been around for over 5 years.
The data also reveals that a large number of SIP accounts i.e. 44% or 2.32 crore have been around for less than a year. This indicates that many new investors have opened SIP accounts in the last one year.
Regular Vs Direct
Of the total 5.28 crore SIP accounts, regular plans account for 69%. Their AUM stands at Rs. 4.87 lakh crore. Direct plans constitute the remaining 31% and report an AUM of Rs. 89,405 crore.
39.90 lakh regular SIP accounts and 3.42 lakh direct SIP accounts have been around for over 5 years. This forms 8% and 1% of total SIP accounts, respectively whereas the number of regular SIP accounts and direct SIP accounts active for less than a year form 26% and 18%, respectively.
T30 Vs B30
T30 cities contribute 52% of total SIP accounts and an AUM of Rs. 3.81 lakh crore whereas B30 cities contribute the remaining 48% along with the AUM of Rs. 1.95 lakh crore.
23.07 lakh SIP accounts from T30 cities and 20.26 lakh SIP accounts from B30 cities are over 5-year old. They individually constitute 4% of the total SIP count. On the other hand, the number of SIP accounts active for less than a year is 1.22 crore and 1.10 crore, respectively.
