AMFI data shows that Dadra And Nagar Haveli, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh are the top three in terms SIP AUM to the total MF AUM in March 2024. These three state derive close to 40% of their total AUM from SIPs.
Dadra And Nagar Haveli tops the list with 50% of its total assets coming from SIPs. While Chandigarh occupies the second spot with 45% of its total assets coming from SIPs, such a proportion is 39% for Himachal Pradesh.
Not so far behind are Bihar and Uttarakhand with SIP AUM to the total AUM of 38% and 37%, respectively.
States with more than 30% of assets coming from SIPs include Jammu And Kashmir(36%), Rajasthan(35%), Assam(34%), Madhya Pradesh (33%), Jharkhand(32%), Chhattisgarh (31%) and Punjab (30%).
States like Gujarat, Goa, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh show moderate SIP engagement with contributions ranging between 20% and 30%.
Daman And Diu, Mizoram, and New Delhi reflect lower SIP contributions, sitting below the 10% mark.
On the other hand, four states – Daman And Diu, Mizoram, New Delhi and Maharashtra have 90% of their total assets coming from lumpsum investment.
Daman And Diu derives the highest 95% of its total assets from lumpsum in the industry.
Mizoram and New Delhi are the next two states with lumpsum contribution of 93% and 92%, respectively of the total AUM.
The highest contributing state in terms of assets - Maharashtra derives 90% of its total assets from lumpsum business.
Other states with over 80% of the total assets coming from lumpsum business are Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Karnataka, Telangana, Manipur, Andaman And Nicobar Island and West Bengal.

In a note, AMFI said, “Upon analysing the state and union territory-wise distribution of SIP AUM as a percentage of respective state’s total MF AUM as on March 31, 2025, we observed that the SIP AUM share in Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli accounted for more than 40% of respective state’s total MF AUM. In contrast, Mizoram, New Delhi, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep had lower proportion, at less than 20% of respective state’s total MF AUM.”
