    Gold ETF trading picks up on bourses during Akshaya Tritiya

    Trading volumes on NSE and BSE increase on AkshayaTritiya compared to last year.

    Trading activity saw an increase in Gold ETFs on the exchanges during AkshayaTritiya yesterday.

    The National Stock Exchange (NSE) recorded trading worth Rs 691 crore in Gold ETFs, 14 % higher compared to last year at Rs 608 crore.On BSE, the trading value stood at Rs 615 crore, significantly higher compared to trading worth Rs 140 crore last year.

    Volumes in gold ETFs have shown consistent growth over the last four years on auspicious days like AkshayaTritiya and Dhanteras.

    Both NSE and BSE had extended market timings on Akshaya Tritiya for trading in Gold ETFs till 7pm. Both the exchanges had waived off transaction charges in Gold ETFs to attract traders.


    There are 14 Gold ETFs listed on the exchanges. The category has been witnessing net outflows in the last three months. Gold ETF assets under management have fallen from Rs 12000 crore levels in January 2013 to Rs 10629 crore in April 2013 due to mark to market losses and redemptions.
