AMFI data on SIP longevity shows that 22% of the total SIP assets has been invested for over five years. Of the total SIP AUM of Rs.6.35 lakh crore, Rs. 1.43 lakh crore have been invested for over five years.
Further analysis of the longevity data reveals that 40% or Rs. 2.49 lakh crore of the total SIP assets has been around for more than two but up to 5 years. And, the remaining 39% or Rs. 2.43 lakh crore of SIP AUM were invested for up to 2 years.
As on Sept 2022, the total SIP AUM formed 16.30% of the total industry assets.
Regular Vs Direct
Of the total SIP AUM, majority of assets i.e. 84% or Rs. 5.32 lakh crore has been invested through regular plans.
Interestingly, the proportion of 5-year-old SIP assets of regular plans is higher than that of direct plans.
In regular plans, 24% of the total assets has been around for over 5 years. On the other hand, 12% of the total SIP AUM under direct plan has been invested for over five years.
T30 Vs B30
Of the total SIP AUM, T30 AUM formed 66% or Rs. 4.18 lakh crore and B30 AUM formed the remaining 34% or Rs. 2.17 lakh crore.
