Indians are getting serious about retirement. PFRDA data shows that the NPS industry has added over 6.66 lakh new subscribers in the last one year.
The number of individual subscribers in NPS has increased from 18.38 lakh in Sept 2021 to 25.04 lakh in Sept 2022, a growth of 36% in one year.
However, individual investors account for just 4% of the total NPS subscribers count of 5.75 crore. APY (Atal Pension Yojana) subscribers took a lead here and formed 71% of the total count.
In terms of AUM, individual subscribers had a similar share. They formed 4% of the overall assets of Rs. 8 lakh crore as on Sept 2022. As against the last year, these assets grew by 33% to Rs. 35,908 crore. With a 50% share, SG (State Government) subscribers were the largest contributors to the total AUM.
