Mutual funds including ETFs have been catching up among retail investors.
A recent study done by smallcase and Zinnov reveals that mutual funds account for 25% of the overall investment portfolio of retail investors.
Titled ‘Rise of the Indian Retail Investor’, the report reveals that mutual funds and ETFs are not far behind fixed deposits which form 29% of the total investment portfolio of retail investors.
Retail investors allocate the next highest share (10%) to PPF (Public Provident Fund), followed by 8% in direct equity.
Cryptocurrencies (4.8%), digital gold (4.7%), bonds (4.5%) and private equity (4.5%) have a somewhat similar share in retail investors’ portfolios.
Other financial products have less than 3% wallet share. These include NPS, REITs, smallcase, PMS, NFTs and AIFs.
