    MF industry welcomes 5000 new ARN holders in November

    Here are the key highlights of the MF industry for November 2022.

    The MF industry has added close to 5000 new MFDs in November, highest over the last eight months.

    Also, the total average AUM crossed the Rs. 40 lakh crore mark for the first time. It stood at Rs. 40.49 lakh crore as on November 30, 2022.

    Here are some key highlights of the month gone by.

    Over 78000 new investors invest in mutual funds

    The MF industry has added 78,045 new investors last month. Currently, the industry has a total of 3.64 crore investors of which 3.59 crore investors have unique PANs and close to 5 lakh have PEKRNs (PAN-exempt KYC reference numbers).

    A modest rise in the folio count - 7 lakh  

    The folio count increased by 7 lakh taking the total to 13.98 crore from the previous count of 13.91 crore. T-30 cities contributed 56% or 7.84 crore folios and the balance 44% or 6.14 crore are from B-30 cities.

    Share of T-30 and B-30 cities remain constant - 82% and 18%, respectively 

    The percentage contribution from T-30 and B-30 cities in the industry AUM (Rs. 40.38 lakh crore) remained the same. In absolute terms, the contribution of T-30 cities increased from Rs. 32.35 lakh crore to 33.12 lakh crore. Likewise, the share of B-30 cities increased from Rs. 7.15 lakh crore to Rs. 7.26 lakh crore.

    Average AUM per folio of retail investors improves

    The average AUM per folio of the industry as a whole i.e. retail and corporate increased from Rs. 2.84 lakh to Rs. 2.89 lakh. Also, the combined average AUM per folio of the retail segment for T30+B30 cities improved from Rs. 1.68 lakh to Rs. 1.71 lakh in November 2022.

    Net SIP accounts rise double digit - 11.27 lakh    

    The total number of outstanding SIP accounts increased from 5.93 crore in October 2022 to 6.05 crore in November 2022. The net SIP accounts went up by 11.27 lakh where investors registered 21.77 lakh accounts and 10.50 lakh SIPs matured/were paused or discounted.

    Total monthly SIP contribution continued to be over Rs. 13,000. Of the total Rs. 13,306 crore in November 2022, regular plans/MFDs brought 77% or Rs. 10,223 crore. Direct plans contributed the balance of 23% or Rs. 3,083 crore.  

    Highest ARN registrations since April 2022 - 4,982  

    Of the total 4,982 MFDs who joined the MF industry, 1916 MFDs were individuals. This is what the break-up of ARN/EUIN registrations looked like:
