    B Gopkumar is the new MD and CEO of Axis MF

    Axis AMC has appointed B Gopkumar as the new managing director and CEO of the company. Currently, Gopkumar is the MD & CEO of Axis Securities. He will assume his new role on May 1, 2023 for three years.

    Gopkumar has over 28 years of professional experience in financial services industry. He is a postgraduate in business management and is an avid reader, a fitness enthusiast, and a passionate marathoner.

    Chandresh Nigam, MD & CEO will leave the company to pursue other personal and professional interests, said the company.

    In another development, Ashish Gupta has joined Axis AMC as its CIO of the mutual fund. Gupta was the Head of India equity research at Credit Suisse. He has over 25 years of experience in equity research.

    In a press release, Amitabh Chaudhry, Chairman of Axis AMC said, “With these appointments, Axis Mutual Fund will look forward to capitalizing on Gopkumar’s experience and leadership in building large distribution businesses and Ashish’s deep understanding of capital markets and its constituents. We thank Chandresh for his leadership and contribution to Axis AMC.”

    Chandresh Nigam' s exit could be seen in the light of recent front running fiasco in AXIS MF, together with large scale underperformance across schemes. To regain its past glory change in leadership position was due.
