    MF bulletin: MF industry reports over Rs. 13,000 crore of SIP inflows for the fifth straight month

    Here’s a quick recap of the MF industry for February 2023.

    The MF industry reported monthly SIP flows of more than Rs. 13,000 crore for the fifth straight month. 

    Overall, the monthly inflows were Rs. 13,686 crore and the live SIP accounts increased by 6.63 lakh to 6.28 crore. 

    In terms of live SIP accounts, with a 5.29 crore live count, equity schemes form the major chunk and constitute 84% of the total SIP accounts. Hybrid and index funds have the next highest share, followed by debt funds.

    Overall industry assets and folio count 

    The average AUM was Rs. 40.69 lakh crore as on February 2022. Of the total AUM, 82% or Rs. 32.41 lakh crore came from T-30 cities and the balance Rs. 7.05 lakh crore or 18% was from B-30 cities. 

    The MF industry registered 14.07 lakh new folios taking the total count to 14.43 crore. Of these, T-30 cities contribute more than 50%. They form 56% or 8.14 crore.

    Investor count 

    With an addition of 3.36 lakh investors, the total investor count increased to 3.73 crore. This comprises 3.69 crore unique PANs and close to 5 lakh unique PEKRN (PAN Exempt Investor Category).

    ARN/EUIN registration and renewal 

    The MF industry saw an addition of 3,952 new ARNs/EUINs, which comprises 1,964 individuals, 131 corporates, 1,856 corporate employees and 1 individual MFD employee. 

    On the renewal side, the industry reported 4,157 renewals - 2,417 individuals, 96 corporates, 1,643 corporate employees and 1 individual MFD employee.
