The MF industry AUM stood at Rs. 41.53 lakh crore as on April 2023, shows AMFI data. A region-wise analysis of this data reveals that close to 42% or Rs. 17.33 lakh crore has come from Maharashtra, making it the top state in terms of MF assets.
Notably, Maharashtra leads by a huge margin as other regions have less than 10% of industry assets.
While New Delhi houses the second-highest share of Rs. 3.86 lakh crore, Karnataka, Gujarat and West Bengal have the next largest asset base of over Rs. 2 lakh crore each.
Apart from these five regions, only three other states have more than Rs. 1 lakh crore of MF assets. These are Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Haryana.
The analysis further shows north-eastern states of Manipur and Mizoram along with Andaman and Nicobar Islands have less than Rs. 1,000 crore of MF assets, the least amongst others.
