Last month, the MF industry touched a new high in terms of AUM and gross monthly SIP Inflows.
While the average AUM stood at Rs. 42.95 lakh crore, the AUM was Rs. 43.20 lakh crore as on May 2023. Of the total AUM, 82% or Rs. 35.49 lakh crore is fromT-30 locations and the balance 18% or Rs. 7.71 lakh crore in B-30 locations.
This gap between T-30 and B-30 cities narrowed in the case of folio count. 56% or 8.26 lakh are registered in T-30 cities and the balance 44% or 6.48 lakh crore are in B-30 cities.

SIPs
The MF industry received Rs. 14,749 crore in SIPs which is an all-time high number. As against the previous month (April 2023), the flows increased by Rs. 1,021 crores and the number of outstanding SIP accounts jumped by 10.51 lakh.
In terms of SIP accounts, equity schemes led by a wide margin and contributed the highest share of 84%. Hybrid and index funds followed next with a modest share of 6% and 3%, respectively.

Investor participation
Investor participation saw a rise as the total investor count increased from 3.79 crore as on April 2023 to 3.82 crore as on May 2023.
3.82 crore comprises 3.78 unique PAN and close to 4 lakh unique PEKRN (PAN Exempt Investor Category).
ARN registration/renewal
4,144 distributors joined the MF industry last month. These included 2,542 corporate employees, 1,505 individuals, 96 corporates and 1 new cadre registration.
In terms of renewals, 3178 distributors renewed their ARN. Here individual renewals took the lead (1,705), followed by corporate employees (1,358), then corporates (113) and individual MFD employees (2).
