    An analysis of AUM data of the top 30 fund houses reveals that these fund houses derive 7% of their total MF AUM from their affiliates. Affiliates include group companies including bank branches which understandably promote their group AMCs and are also known as associate distributors.

    Overall, of the total Rs 44.62 lakh crore monthly average AUM, associate distributors or affiliates contribute Rs 3.05 lakh crore.

    In absolute terms, SBI MF is the only fund house to receive over Rs 1.50 lakh crore business from its affiliates.

    Next in the list are ICICI Prudential MF and HDFC MF which receive associate business to the tune of Rs 40,740 crore and Rs 28,352 crore, respectively. Axis MF and Kotak MF receive the next highest share of Rs 27,810 crore and Rs 11,564 crore.

    In terms of AUM composition, NJ MF derives 79% from associate distributors, the highest among other fund houses. Union MF derives the second-highest share of 40% and Bank of India MF along with Baroda BNP Paribas MF have the next highest proportion of 31% each.
