The MF industry has added over 6.25 lakh new investors in August 2023, shows the industry data.
With this, the total number of investors in mutual funds has reached close to 4 crore. The data shows that the number of investors increased from 3.92 crore in July to 3.98 crore in August 2023.
Let us look at other key highlights of the August 2023:
- By adding over 28 lakh new folios, the total folio count stood at 15.42 crore in August. It increased from 15.14 crore in July 2023
- The AUM of MF industry reached close to Rs.47 lakh crore
- Of the total AUM, T-30 account for 82% or Rs 38.20 lakh crore. B-30 contributed 18% to the total AUM or Rs.8.43 lakh crore
- Majority of SIP inflows or 84% come in equity schemes. Next are hybrid and index schemes having SIP share of 6% and 3%, respectively

- Close to 4,350 distributors joined the MF industry in August, 2023. Of these new distributors, 2,260 are corporate employees and 1,978 are individuals
- In terms of renewals, 3,417 distributors renewed their ARN. Here, individual renewals took the lead (2,218) followed by corporate employees (1,104), corporates (90) and then individual MFD employees (5)
