DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund is set to launch a financial awareness workshop called ‘Diksha Financial Learning Program’ for women belonging to lower income group in order to address their financial needs.
The fund house has partnered with Parinaam Foundation to organize a series of financial literacy programs across the country.
Not only these workshops aim to educate women from the lower income sections of the society but also to impress upon them the importance of understanding basic financial planning, which are critical for their day to day lives and for a safe and secure future, said a press release issued by the fund house.
The workshops are divided into five modules spread over five weeks which includes sessions on simple numerical skills; how to maintain a financial record of her income and expenditure; understanding the importance of savings; most crucially, understanding how to borrow within their capacity to repay and to be in control of their financial condition.

Mallika Ghosh, Executive Director, Parinaam Foundation said, “Diksha was created to empower underprivileged women and teach them how to manage their finances by taking control of their lives. A woman is the backbone of a family and by educating her we are also educating an entire family.”
DSP BlackRock will hold 34 such workshops in 24 locations in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat, Ajmer, Jaipur, Alwar, Bengaluru, Hosur, Salem, Erode, Dhanbad, Baramunda, Puri and Cooch Behar, among others. Each city will have a minimum of two slots of 60 women and a few branches will have four slots of 120 women.
Over 1000 women are expected to be benefit from this nationwide financial awareness drive, said a company press release. The program will start by March end from Pune.
