    Amar Singh has invested Rs. 6.27 crore while the Gandhi duo - Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi jointly put in Rs. 1.63 crore in mutual funds, says a PTI report carried by DNA on Monday.

    Indian politicians like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Amar Singh, Arun Jaitley, Ambika Soni, Jyotiraditya Scindia etc. have pumped in several lakhs in mutual fund schemes to grow their wealth, says a PTI report published by DNA newspaper on Monday.

    “An analysis of election affidavits filed by those fighting the ongoing Lok Sabha elections shows that a large number of contestants have invested significant amounts of money in mutual funds along with other investments. Most of such contestants have invested lakhs of rupees in mutual funds while for a few, such investments run into crores of rupees,” says the report.

    Of Rs. 41 crore invested in movable assets, Amar Singh of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has invested Rs. 6.27 crore in mutual funds.

    Election affidavit of Rahul Gandhi, Congress Vice President and Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson shows that they have jointly invested over Rs. 1.63 crore in mutual funds. The election affidavits of the two Gandhis in the last Lok Sabha polls of 2009 did not show any mutual fund investments, the report stated. On the other hand, their senior counterpart Arun Jaitley of BJP has pumped in close to Rs. 2 crore in such instruments.

    Others having investments in mutual funds include Varun Gandhi from BJP, Shazia IImi of AAP, Jyotiraditya Scindia of Congress, Ambika Soni of Congress, Shashi Tharoor of Congress, Meera Sanyal of AAP, V Balakrishnan of AAP, Bhaichung Bhutia of Trinamool Congress and Hema Malini of BJP.

    BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal, BJP President Rajnath Singh, former Army Chief V K Singh, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and BJP's Uma Bharti don’t make any investments in mutual funds.
