What are the key business lessons that 2023 taught?

We have seen tremendous growth in participation of investors in mutual funds through SIPs. However, we need to build a strong team to capture this business opportunity. The biggest lesson for me is to invest in building team.

What are your aspirations for the coming year? How do you see growing your distribution business?

I have two focus areas – bringing an institutional dimension to our practices and deepening engagement with our existing clients. Another focus which is ongoing is to collaborate with others to grow business.

Which new business skills are you desirous to learn in 2024? And why?

I want to learn more about artificial intelligence to enhance client experience. In my view, we should stay abreast of the latest advancements and trends in AI, as the field is rapidly evolving.

Which investor category do you sense is still untapped and should be explored in the coming year?

I think there is huge opportunity for MFDs in each segment. However, MFDs should focus on middle and lower income clients as these two segments are still untapped and offer great business potential.
