    New Delhi, Goa and Maharashtra command highest average AUM per folio

    Also, Maharashtra has the highest AUM to GDP ratio.

    Average AUM per folio

    An analysis of state-wise penetration of mutual funds reveals that New Delhi, Goa and Maharashtra were the top three states in terms of average AUM per folio. These states have reported an average AUM per folio of Rs.2.20 lakh, Rs.2 lakh and Rs.1.76 lakh, respectively.

    The average AUM per folio of each state is calculated by dividing the total AUM of a state or UT and the total number of folios in the state.

    New Delhi and Goa are the only two states with an average AUM per folio of over Rs.2 lakh.

    Haryana and Karnataka were the next two states with an average AUM per folio of Rs. 59,000 and Rs. 55,000, respectively.

    Further, smaller states and UTs like Sikkim (Rs.26,570) and Andaman and Nicobar (Rs.26,130) made it to the top ten states/UTs list with the highest AUM per folio.

    Average AUM to GDP ratio

    Maharashtra has the highest average AUM to GDP ratio at 80%. New Delhi and Goa were second and third with an average GDP ratio of 49% and 41%, respectively.

    The average AUM to GDP ratio is the total assets of the state divided by its GDP. Gujarat and West Bengal were the next two states with the highest average AUM to GDP ratios of 22% and 21%, respectively.

    Further, Haryana (19%), Karnataka (18%), Jharkhand (17%), Uttar Pradesh (13%) and Tamil Nadu (12%) are the next top five states in terms of highest AAUM to GDP ratio.
