Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund has introduced a new initiative 'Saksham' for empowering transgender community in Mumbai. The initiative aims to impart skill development training to transgenders that can help them start businesses and earn livelihood.
The fund house has tied up with Gaurav, a non-profitable organisation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community.
In a press release, Avinash Satwalekar, President, Franklin Templeton MF - India said, “The primary goal of this project is to champion and implement an innovative concept, that will encourage 150 transgender individuals to get formally engaged through employability and social entrepreneurship. This represents a modest yet significant stride towards an inclusive society.
