At the Cafemutual Passives Conference 2023, Mumbai MFD Nimish Ashar said that passives funds are like the holy book ‘Bhagavad-Gita’. He said, “I compare passives to the holy book ‘Bhagavad-Gita’ as passives are in a Virat Swaroop and are indestructible.” He believes that indices are like soul which never die.
Among the few MFDs actively engaged in passives, Nimish Ashar stands as a notable example. With over two decades of experience in MF distribution, he has successfully built 50% of his total business through passives. Out of passives, he mostly recommends ETFs.
At last year’s CPC, Prem Khatri, CEO of Cafemutual asked Nimish how he explains to his clients about passive funds. He said that while it is difficult for him to explain it to clients considering the lack of awareness, he uses data to highlight how they can benefit from passives funds through low cost and less risky investment.
Nimish said, “I also tell them about global investment landscape where the world has moved to passive investing.”
Nimish said that he witnessed growth in business as many of his clients increased investment after he introduced them to passives. He said that MFDs should start recommending passive funds to their clients to command better wallet share.
