The latest industry data shows that the total number of mutual fund investors crossed 4.50 crore. The total number of unique investors based on PAN and PEKRN increased from 4.46 crore in March-2024 to 4.53 crore in April-2024.
This indicates that the Rs.57 lakh crore MF industry added 7 lakh new investors in April 2024.
Here are other key highlights of the month gone by:
SIP numbers
- The number of SIP accounts increased from 8.40 crore in March 2024 to 8.70 crore in April 2024
- 63.65 lakh new SIPs were registered while 33.25 lakh SIPs discontinued in a month resulting in a net increase of 30.40 lakh SIP accounts
Individual AUM
- Total individual AUM increased from Rs.33.60 lakh crore in March-2024 to Rs.35.20 lakh crore in April-2024
- Individual AUM in T-30 cities increased to Rs. 26.28 lakh crore in April-2024.
- Individual AUM in B-30 cities went up from Rs.8.49 lakh crore in March-2024 to Rs.8.92 lakh crore in April-2024.
Average AUM per folio
- The combined average AUM per folio of retail investors in T30 and B30 cities grew from Rs. 1.90 lakh in March-2024 to Rs. 1.95 lakh in April-2024
- The average AUM per folio of retail investors in T-30 cities was Rs. 2.68 lakh whereas the average AUM per folio of retail investors in B-30 cities stood at Rs.1.08 lakh in April-2024
Number of folios
- Total folio count increased from 17.79 crore in March-2024 to 18.15 crore in April-2024
ARN registrations
- 1907 new individual MFDs entered the MF industry
- Overall, the industry added 4470 new ARNs of which 2500 were employees of large distributors
ARN renewals
- 6960 ARNs were renewed in April-2024.
- Out of these, 4453 were from individual MFDs
