    7 new additions to the large cap universe

    The market cap of the biggest large cap company, Reliance, has increased from Rs. 16.39 lakh crore in December 2023 to Rs. 19.48 lakh crore in June 2024.

    AMFI recently released its half-yearly list of large cap, mid cap and small cap stocks. It shows that 7 new companies have been added to large cap from mid cap. These include Bharat Heavy Electricals, Hero Motocorp, Zydus Lifesciences, JSW Energy, NHPC, Samvardhana Motherson International and Bosch.

    7 companies which were classified as large cap in December 2023 are now classified as mid cap in this list. These include SRF, Polycab India, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, Marico, SBI Cards and Payment Services and Berger Paints India.

    The list also shows companies that have moved from small cap to mid cap. These companies include Housing & Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), Bharat Dynamics, IRB Infra, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) and BSE. Meanwhile, Hatsun Agro Products, Relaxo Footwear, Timken India, IIFL Finance, Vedant Fashions and Zee Entertainment Enterprises moved from mid cap to small cap.  

    Overall, the market cap of the biggest large cap company, Reliance Limited has increased from Rs. 16.39 lakh crore in December 2023 to Rs. 19.48 lakh crore in June 2024. The market cap of the smallest large cap company, on the other end, has also increased from Rs. 67000 crore to Rs. 84,300 crore in June 2024.

    As per AMFI, the large cap space comprises top 100 companies in full market capitalization. Similarly, companies ranging from 101 to 250 are mid-cap segments and from 251 onwards are small-cap companies.

    The latest AMFI report of December 2023, publishes 5,012 stocks as against 5,063 stocks in the June 2023 list.
