    An analysis of AUM data done by Cafemutual reveals that HDFC MF, ICICI Prudential MF and Nippon India MF receive healthy contribution from non-associate distributors.

    Non associate distributors are essentially those who are not affiliated to the sponsors of AMC. In other words, this comprises individual  MFDs, non-affiliated banks and non-affiliated NDs.

    HDFC MF has the highest non-associate assets with a non-associate AUM of Rs. 3.81 lakh crore. The fund house derives 54% of its total assets from such partners.

    ICICI Prudential MF and Nippon India MF occupy the second and third position with non-associate AUM of Rs. 3.61 lakh crore and Rs. 2.34 lakh crore, respectively. Both the fund houses receive over 45% of its assets from non-associate distributors.

    UTI MF and SBI MF are the next two with non-associate assets of Rs. 2.34 lakh crore and Rs. 2.26 lakh crore, respectively.

    Other fund houses in the top 10 list in terms of non-associate AUM include Kotak MF, Aditya Birla MF, Axis MF, Mirae Asset MF and DSP MF.

    In terms of proportion of non-associate AUM with respect to total assets, Samco MF, Taurus MF, Whiteoak Capital MF, Mahindra Manulife MF and Franklin Templeton MF have over 80% of their total AUM coming from non-associate distributors.

    Overall, the total non-associate AUM of the MF industry is Rs. 29.51 lakh crore in June 2024.

    I think the rationale in your study is not appropriate. As their AUMs are high, naturally the absolute volume from Non-Associate AUM will also high. But I feel you should take into consideration the percentage of Non-Associate AUM to total AUM will be more rational in arriving this conclusion. There are many AMCs where the NON-Assoociate AUM percentage is more than 75% of their total AUM.
