    HDFC MF, ICICI Pru MF and SBI MF have the highest individual AUM

    An analysis of AUM data by Cafemutual shows that as of September 2024, HDFC MF, ICICI Pru MF and SBI MF have the highest individual AUM among all fund houses.

    HDFC MF is the leading player when it comes to individual investors with an AUM of Rs. 5.55 lakh crore. ICICI Pru MF is second on the leaderboard with an individual AUM of Rs. 5.45 lakh crore while SBI MF rounds off the top 3 with an AUM of Rs. 5.36 lakh crore coming from individual investors. The top 3 fund houses contribute over one-third of the total individual AUM.

    Nippon India MF is fourth on the list with an individual AUM of Rs. 3.39 lakh crore. Kotak MF completes the top 5 with an AUM of Rs. 2.85 lakh crore from individual investors.

    Other fund houses with high individual AUM include Axis MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, UTI MF, Mirae Asset MF and DSP MF.

    In percentage terms, Taurus MF has the highest percentage of AUM from individual investors at 96%. Quant MF is second with 92% while Samco MF is third with 91% of its AUM coming from individual investors.

    Other fund houses with high percentage of AUM from individual investors include PPFAS MF, Franklin Templeton MF, PGIM India MF, Canara Robeco MF, ITI MF, Mahindra Manulife MF and WhiteOak Capital MF.

    Overall, the individual AUM of the MF industry is at Rs. 42 lakh crore. Individual investors constitute 62% of the total MF AUM.

    When it comes to retail investors, HDFC MF, SBI MF and ICICI Pru MF are the biggest players. HDFC MF is the leader here as well with retail AUM of Rs. 2.23 lakh crore. SBI MF comes second with retail investors contributing Rs. 2.05 lakh crore to its AUM. ICICI Pru MF completes the top 3 with retail AUM of Rs. 1.82 lakh crore.

    Other fund houses with high retail AUM includes Nippon India MF, Axis MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, UTI MF, Mirae Asset MF, Kotak MF and DSP MF.

    Overall, retail investors contribute Rs. 18.77 lakh crore to the MF industry AUM.

    HNI investors

    In terms of HNI investors, ICICI Pru MF is the leader with AUM of Rs. 3.63 lakh crore. HDFC MF is second on the list with AUM of Rs. 3.32 lakh crore coming from HNI investors. SBI MF completes the top 3 with HNIs contributing Rs. 3.31 lakh crore to its AUM.

    Other fund houses that recorded high AUM from HNIs include Kotak MF, Nippon India MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, Axis MF, Mirae Asset MF, DSP MF and UTI MF.

    Overall, HNIs contribute Rs. 23.25 lakh crore to the MF industry AUM.
