    Which sectors have the highest equity allocation?

    Overall, equity funds account for Rs. 43.53 lakh crore of its assets in MF industry.

    SEBI data shows that banks, finance and software are the top three sectors in terms of equity assets in December 2024.

    Banking sector takes up the highest assets of equity funds of Rs. 8.30 lakh crore. This forms 19% of the overall equity AUM of the MF industry.

    The finance sector is second with Rs. 2.68 lakh crore. The software sector is third with Rs. 2.65 lakh crore. Both sectors constitute 6% each of the total equity AUM.

    Petroleum products and pharmaceuticals complete the top five with assets of Rs. 1.84 lakh crore and Rs. 1.81 lakh crore, respectively. Both sectors have 4% of equity AUM each.

    The others sector which includes infrastructure, defense, aviation, among others takes up 21% of equity assets of Rs. 9.14 lakh crore.

    Besides these, sectors like construction, consumer durables, retailing, power and auto also have high amounts of assets in equity funds.

    Overall, equity funds account for Rs. 43.53 lakh crore of its assets in MF industry.
