Managing a team of fund managers and overseeing investments of thousands of crores can be overwhelming—even for the most seasoned professionals. That’s why the ability to relax and recharge after a long day is essential for staying fresh and focused in the long run.
In our latest series ' After Hours with Cafemutual, we caught up with Shridatta Bhandwaldar to learn how he unwinds after hours. He also revealed some fun, lesser-known stories—like how his love for gulab jamuns once had his parents hunting for them during a citywide curfew!
Here’s what he had to say:
What’s the first thing you do when you get home from work?
I spend time with my kids and wife, catching up on how their day went. Then, I usually listen to general news—both global and local—to get a sense of what’s been happening outside the financial markets.
Are you more of a homebody, or do you enjoy going out after hours?
I generally prefer staying at home after work. Going out is usually reserved for Friday and Saturday evenings.
What’s your guilty pleasure after a tough day—binge-watching shows, picking up a book, or something else?
I enjoy a mix of binge-watching and listening to music.
How do you prefer to unwind: a quiet night in or a social evening out with friends?
I prefer unwinding by listening to music. I almost always choose to stay in—unless I’m meeting up with old friends.
What’s your favorite comfort food or drink at the end of the day?
I don’t have a specific favorite but I usually prefer Indian food over anything else. A cup of tea in the evening is part of my daily routine and a great source of comfort.
If you could trade lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d love to trade lives with my younger son, Manas—a constantly enthusiastic and joyful soul. It would give me a chance to relive childhood.
What’s a childhood memory that still brings a smile to your face?
As a child, I was crazy about gulab jamuns. In December 1992, despite citywide riots, I insisted on having them for my birthday. My parents somehow managed to find a ready-mix pack amidst all the closed shops. That’s a memory I’ll always cherish.
What’s a hobby you’ve always wanted to take up but haven’t yet?
I’ve always wanted to try painting, but I haven’t had the chance to explore it yet.
