Fund officials – CEOs, Fund Managers, Sales Heads – are all prepping up for the marathon on January 15.
Mumbai: Mutual fund officials are looking forward to running at the upcoming Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon. While some will participate for fun, others will run for a cause.
From fund managers to top CEOs, everybody is seen practicing for the widely-anticipated marathon that attracts more than 30,000 runners each year. Among the CEOs are Vivek Kudwa of Franklin Templeton and Vikaas Sachdeva of Edelweiss. Vijay Mantri, a regular participant for seven years, is however giving it a skip this time.
The ace fund manager of HDFC AMC, Prashant Jain was spotted practicing for the event at Worli Seaface. Star fund manager of Fidelity, Sandeep Kothari will also be running the marathon. Most MF people have chosen to run the half marathon of 21 km.
Apart from fund managers, top Sales Heads are regulars at the marathon. Suraj Kaeley of Fidelity will be running the half marathon. He will be accompanied by his colleagues Shri Harsha, Ankur Budhiraja and Ankur Thakore. Arun Prasad, Head of Sales & Business Development at Bharti Axa Mutual Fund will also be running.
“It’s great fun. We look forward to this event every year. I have been practicing on weekends for two hours at Marine Drive and also on weekdays when I get the time,” said Suraj.
Karan Datta of Axis is also among the regulars at the annual event.
Vikaas Sachdeva, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund has been running for the past five years. Vikaas runs for a cause. While last year he supported a trust independently, this year he is running with his Edelweiss team. They will be running on behalf of EdelGive, as part of its Edelweiss’ corporate social responsibility.
EdelGive will donate funds raised from various sources including the upcoming marathon to Mumbai based NGO Sahyog (Chehak Trust) which provides elementary education to under privileged children. “We are reaching out to people via various modes including social media. It is starting to gain momentum now. Running is like meditating. When you run with your team, a strong bond builds up,” says Vikaas. More than 40 people are participating from the Edelweiss Group companies. Vikaas is the captain of a 5-member team of EdelGive.
