An analysis done by Cafemutual of passive ETFs shows that large cap ETFs, sectoral and thematic ETFs and target maturity ETFs were the top three categories of passive ETFs in terms of absolute AUM growth in May 2024.
Among the eleven categories of ETFs, large-cap funds recorded the highest growth in AUM in absolute terms. This category AUM rose from Rs.3.63 lakh crore in May 2023 to Rs.5 lakh crore in May 2024, marking an increase of Rs.1.37 lakh crore or 38% in percentage terms.
Sectoral and thematic funds and target maturity funds were the next two categories in the list with growth in AUM of Rs.28,500 crore and Rs.8,500 crore, respectively.
Sectoral and thematic funds AUM increased from Rs.57,000 crore in May 2024 to Rs.85,000 crore in May 2024 whereas, target maturity funds AUM increased from Rs.64,000 crore to Rs.72,500 crore.
In terms of percentage, silver ETFs (300%), factor ETFs (288%) and flexi cap ETFs (159%) have the highest growth rate in one year.
