    Passive AUM grows by 21% to reach Rs.11.13 lakh crore in March 2025

    Passive funds account for 16.7 percent of the total MF industry AUM.

    Latest AMFI data shows that the passive AUM of the MF industry has reached Rs. 11.13 lakh crore as of March 2025. The AUM of passive funds has increased by 21% from Rs. 9.22 lakh crore in March 2024.

    Currently, passive funds account for 16.7% of the total mutual fund industry AUM.

    Equity ETFs that track domestic equity indices occupy the largest share of the pie, with an average AUM of Rs. 6.28 lakh crore.

    Equity Index funds tracking domestic indices is the second largest passives category with an average AUM of Rs. 1.57 lakh crore in March 2025. Next are debt ETFs with average AUM of Rs. 97,349 crore, target maturity index funds with Rs. 96,025 crore and gold ETFs with Rs. 57,101 crore.

    In terms of net inflows in March 2025, domestic equity ETFs have received net inflows of Rs. 11,808 crore followed by domestic equity index funds with net inflows of Rs. 3,461 crore.

    Debt index funds have also recorded net inflows of Rs. 1,694 crore.

    Among commodity passive funds, while silver ETFs have witnessed net inflows Rs. 358 crore, gold ETFs saw net outflows of Rs. 77 crore in March 2025.

    Target maturity funds have recorded the highest net outflows at Rs. 1,602 crore, along with debt ETFs which saw net outflows of Rs. 1,116 crore.

    Overall, passive schemes have net inflow of Rs. 14,148 crore.

    Currently, there are a total of 614 passive schemes. This includes 196 domestic equity index funds, 177 domestic equity ETFs and 92 target maturity index funds. Other categories like gold, silver, international ETFs, and FoFs make up the rest.
