An analysis of AMFI data by Cafemutual shows that equity and debt ETFs have seen the highest net inflows among passive funds in 2024.
These ETFs saw net inflows of about Rs. 69,800 crore in 2024. The highest net inflows of Rs. 13,400 crore came during October. The month of May and March also saw high net inflows of about Rs. 10,700 crore and Rs. 10,600 crore, respectively. December was the only month during the year, which saw net outflows of about Rs. 4,600 crore.
Index funds recorded the second highest net inflows of about Rs. 53,700 crore in 2024. July recorded the highest net inflows in index funds of about Rs. 8,000 crore. October and April also saw healthy inflows of about Rs. 7,900 crore and Rs. 6,500 crore, respectively. The lowest inflows in index funds was recorded in September of Rs. 2,000 crore.
Commodity ETFs saw net inflows of about Rs. 11,200 crore. The highest inflows in commodity ETFs was recorded in October of Rs. 2,000 crore. August and July also recorded high net inflows of Rs. 1,600 crore and Rs. 1,300 crore, respectively. April was the only month, which saw a net outflow of Rs. 400 crore in this segment.
Overseas FoFs saw total net outflows of about Rs. 2,600 crore in 2024. March and October were the only months, which recorded net inflows of Rs. 37 crore and Rs. 94 crore, respectively.
Overall, passive funds recorded net inflows of Rs. 1.32 lakh crore in 2024.
