As of March 2024, retail investors collectively owned 9.5 percent of listed companies in India, while mutual funds held 8.9 percent. That has narrowed down to 0.6 percentage points at the end of March 2024, according to data by NSE Pulse and indications suggest this gap could further narrow in the days ahead.
