In August this year, major banks went live with National Payment Corporation of India’s (NPCI) unified payment interface (UPI). Many banks now offer UPI-enabled apps on the Google Play store. To use a UPI-enabled app, you need an Android smartphone, a bank account and a registered mobile number linked to your bank account. Mint explains how to use the apps.
Step 1:
You will have to first download a UPI-enabled app on your Android phone from the Play store. To use it you will have to register yourself by entering details such as your name and create a six-digit passcode. Once you are registered, you have to enter your bank details. Here you will have give your your bank name. Once you enter your bank name, automatically your bank account details will be populated. It will display last four digits of the account number with a blank space to create your virtual ID. The process can vary from bank to bank.
