Ask ET Mutual Funds: Should I invest in the same fund for 30 years?

Source: Economic Times Mar 1, 2017

I am 29 years old. I have been investing in mutual funds for the past two years in tax savings and some other category of equity funds. I want to invest for a long period of, say, 30-40 years. I want to know whether it is better to invest in the same fund for 30 years, irrespective of the market conditions and its performance or study the performance yearly, and if it is not performing well, stop investing in it and try to invest in other good performing funds in that year. - Pavan Kumar
