Amravati MFD Mahesh Gattani of Balaji Investments has replicated SIP model to support stray livestock and cattle. He has started a unique way to collect donation through systematic donation plan (SDP) in which people can donate a small amount every month.
The SDP money then goes to Gokulam Gorakshan Sanstha Hospital in Amravati which is dedicated to treating stray cows and other livestock. The Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated this hospital recently.
The minimum amount for this SDP is Rs.10 per day or Rs.300 per month. The amount is auto debited from donator’s account on a monthly basis.
Sharing the rationale, Gattani said that the initiative takes care of stray cows which no longer produce milk. He said, “I got to know about this sanstha from my client and felt connected to the cause of providing medical support to our holy cows. Many owners abandon their cows after they stop producing milk. As a result, these homeless cows fall prey to accidents or get ill.”
“While I started supporting the cause on my own, I thought that I can connect many people with this noble initiative through concept like SIP. So, I came up with the idea of SDP. This way, many people can support this noble cause easily with just a small amount. I ask people to contribute just Rs.10 a day and contribute Rs.300 per month. Many people find it convenient to support this noble cause.”
So far, Mahesh has registered 300 SDPs. He plans to create at least 1000 SDP by the end of this year.
