The MF distribution industry has got its first Iron Man. Maharashtra MFD Sachin Rane of Ahmednagar completed the Iron Man Triathlon challenge recently held in Goa.
Over 1600 athletes across 50 countries participated in this gruelling event. Overall, 600 participants made to the cut off, which required them to complete the challenge within 8.30 hours.
Sachin completed Iron Man Triathlon challenge of 2 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km running in 8.26 hours.
Sachin attributes his achievement to three things – persistent efforts, having a coach and focussing on goals. He said, “While I completed several marathons, I wanted to achieve something big. And completing the Iron Man challenge was always my passion. I started preparing for Triathlon in March 2023. I used to wake up at 4 and would do swimming, cycling and running for 4 hours daily. While there were lots of challenges, I never skipped my practice sessions, and my coach always motivated me to focus on the goal.”
Sharing his experience of Iron Man challenge, Sachin said that Goa was a tough terrain due to heat and humidity. He said he was nowhere close to completing the challenge as he had just 18 mins left to complete the last 3 km run. “I was completely exhausted and completing 1 km in six minutes especially after 8.15 hours of continuous drill looked impossible to me. However, I kept thinking about my goal and focused on running.”
Currently, Sachin is associated with NJ India and manages AUM of Rs.58 crore in mutual funds. Team Cafemutual salutes Sachin’s spirit and congratulates him on his achievement.
