The guy was in merchant navy and the lady had left her job due to family pressure. They were on a single income and as merchant navy people, they were getting income only when he was sailing.”
Over time, Shailly not only helped the family bring back on track, she encouraged his client’s wife to start working as a teacher to support the family financially.
Today, the couple have bought a car. They also accumulated down payment for buying a new house and increased their SIP with increase in income for other financial goals.
Shailly’s case is a clear example of how MFDs role’s is much beyond MF transaction.
Talking about what MFDs can do to connect with their clients emotionally, she said, “It’s a consultant and not a distributor that they wanted at that time. And that is the difference we (MFDs) need to demarcate very clearly when we deal with our clients. We need to be their solution providers and not just distributors to them.”
