The lockdown has severely impacted millions of migrants. Several of them lost their jobs and stranded wanting to get back to their native places. It was no different in Jammu's Kathua district. In fact, here the lockdown lasted for a longer period than other parts of India, which further aggravated their struggles.
Amid this despair, MFD Ravi Kumar decided to help out the migrants. Initially, he along with some of his friends started distributing ration packages to migrant families on a daily basis. With a local group, Ravi also made arrangements for migrants to return to their native place.
"In the last 5-6 months, we have been trying our best to help these migrant families in need. Distributing ration, medicine and making arrangements to help them return to their native place are some of the initiatives that we have taken. During the process, we have helped nearly 500 families," said Ravi.
In the last couple of months, Ravi has also contributed actively in sanitising nearly 30 villages in his district.
