“I think a hero is really any person intent on making this a better place for all people.” - Maya Angelou.
Amidst the second wave of covid-19, Munnavar Khan of Vision Advisory Services has yet again surpassed emotional and physical barriers to serve the society. He has been associated with social work even in the past.
Munnavar welcomed the holy month of Ramadan by distributing 300 food packets daily at covid-19 centres, to those under home quarantine and also underprivileged families of labourers. With the help of one of his friends, Munnavar arranged a kitchen facility in a small town, situated 20 to 25 km from Bhopal, where the food packets are prepared.
Munnavar has also started distributing bottles of water along with food. He has put up his contact information on social media, which made it easier for people to reach out to him. Of late, he received calls from people staying overseas requesting him to arrange food for their parents/family members under home quarantine in Bhopal.
Recently, Munnavar has supported covid patents to procure beds and medicines. He has distributed 1500 bottle of waters at crematoriums and assisted in conducting the final rites of victims who succumbed to the virus. He has also prepared ration kits, each kit comprising 5 kg flour, 3 kg rice, 1 kg daal, 1 kg sugar, pouch of 500 ml oil and 100 gm tea. He has already identified deprived families and will be distributing 100 kits every day.
Munnavar has arranged funds by redeeming some of his stocks and mutual funds and also by approaching some like-minded people. His daily schedule comprises helping those in need. Munnavar gets back to community service right after breaking his Ramadan fast as the need arises. With the support of his colleagues, Munnavar also ensures timely fulfilment of his professional obligations.
Putting society first, Munnavar says, “One must do something for somebody who is in need. The contentment derived from the happiness of a needy is priceless.”
