Two Bhopal MFDs – Munnavar Khan of Vision Advisory and Partho Chakraborty are celebrating Diwali differently. The duo along with other volunteers has taken 150 children on a ferry ride apart from distributing new cloths and sweets to spread happiness and lights among underprivileged children.
How it started?
Since the onset of the pandemic, Munnavar has been at the forefront to help underprivileged families. In the course of his social activities, he has interacted with many children from such families and orphanages.
“Forget about buying new cloths and sweets on Diwali, these kids rely on their fate for their next meal. I just wanted to bring a smile to their faces”, shared Munnavar.
Coming together with Partho and five other like-minded people, Munnavar created a pool of funds for buying sweets and clothes. He also organised a ferry ride at Bhopal’s Bada Talab for kids aged 4 to 15 years. The per head cost for the cruise tour was Rs. 200, which they spent from their own pockets.
On October 27, Munnavar and his team booked 2 buses and a few autos to take 150 kids along with 25 parents for the cruise ride. Most of the kids were orphans.
The team served them with snacks and gifted clothes and sweets after an hour-long ride.
The kids were also educated about ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, which encouraged them to spread awareness about the campaign by holding posters.
Munnavar and Partho’s unique way of celebrating Diwali has bought smile to the faces of kids.
Munnavar recently formed KGN Social Foundation for carrying out his social initiatives. The foundation currently has a team of 15 people and reaches out to the needy across all segments.
