We are yet in the first month of the New Year and MFDs across the nation are conducting successful SIP drives one after the other.
This time, Uttar Pradesh MFD Akhil Khandelwal and Uttarakhand MFD Reeta Uniyal have booked more than 100 SIPs in their recent drives. What makes their story special is that this was their very first drive.
Both Akhil and Reeta shared their story with Cafemutual and spoke about the efforts that went behind making the drive successful. Let us look at their story in their own words:
- Akhil Khandelwal, Agra, Uttar Pradesh
104 SIPs on Jan 4, 2022 amounting to Rs. 1.04 lakh.
Inspiration: I am a regular reader of Cafemutual’s success stories, which motivated me to design my first SIP drive. Taking a cue from these stories, I prepared for my drive digitally.
Target: I approached existing clients who had not increased their SIPs in the last two to three years. Additionally, I also reached out to referrals.
Approach: I gave a theme to my drive - ‘One Person One SIP’ through which it became easier to convince investors about the power of a single SIP. For existing clients, I explained to them how adding just one SIP could take them closer to their financial goals faster. I urged new investors to start their first SIP with small amount for getting a feel of the markets and achieving financial goals.
Promotion: Posting creatives that briefly explains the benefits of SIP over WhatsApp every week helped me create a buzz for SIP drive. It also helped me remind my target segment about the SIP drive.
One key learning: Giving a theme to SIP drive creates buzz among participants and keeps us motivated to achieve business goals.
- Reeta Uniyal, Dehradun, Uttarakhand
101 SIPs on Jan 3, 2022 amounting to Rs. 1.05 lakh.
Inspiration: I have recently got my ARN number and thought of celebrating this moment by conducting a digital SIP drive.
Target: Since I have just started, I reached out to investors from my friend and family circle.
Approach: I connected with my acquaintances and explained about mutual funds and the benefits of disciplined investing. I also spoke to them about celebrating the opening of my business through this drive and sought their support.
Follow up: After the initial discussion, I made periodic calls to ensure that they remain interested in SIP drive.
One key learning: Conducting the drive to celebrate professional milestones (like new business set up in my case) and encouraging investors to join the celebrations makes them feel inclusive. They typically show keen interest to participate in such drives.
