Junagadh MFD couple Brijesh Bhatt (25) and Hiral Joshi (24) of Bhatt Consultancy have conducted a women oriented IAP through which they have acquired 40 women clients. The couple MFD expects to convert another 15-20 women as their clients.
While Brijesh and Hiral have been conducting IAPs to acquire new clients for the last few years, they realized that they should do a women specific IAP. Brijesh said, “Over the last few months, whenever we meet any client along with their family, it is the women members who take more interest in our discussion. Last month, when we met a client’s family, his daughter who worked with a leading corporate showed her keen interest in learning about mutual funds. This gave us idea to conduct a woman specific IAP on Women’s Day. But one of our women clients recommended us to conduct such an activity in the beginning of financial year as the month of March is too hectic for working women.”
Next, the couple approached their existing women clients. The couple went to offices of their women clients to invite other women colleagues to attend their IAP. Over the next 4-5 days, the couple invited 110 women to their IAP. They followed up with each of them through phone calls 2 days prior to the event. As a result, 100 women attended their event.
Brijesh said that they have named their IAP as ‘Burni Se Azaadi’ inspired by HDFC MF investor awareness initiative. The topic generated a lot of interest among women, he said.
In the IAP, the couple encouraged women to support their spouse financially by starting SIPs in mutual funds. They explained to them about benefits of mutual funds, risk associated with financial products and rupee cost averaging through SIPs. They also asked the audience to write down their top two financial goals on papers so as to help them identify their financial goals.
Right after the IAP, the couple sought appointment for one-on-one meetings. In these meetings, the couple addressed their concerns and queries about money and investments. Also, they used this opportunity to speak to them about benefits investing in mutual funds through SIPs.
Of the total 50 women they met, the couple converted 40 of them as their clients.
The couple attribute this success to their personal touch with participants, sharing meaningful conversation with them and addressing their queries and concerns related to money and finance.
