A personal brand creates a unique identity which in turn acts as a client magnet. Creating a brand doesn’t necessarily involve huge spending. Simple and original ideas can make you stand out from the rest.
To collate such simple yet powerful business practices for the benefit of our MFD/RIA friends, Cafemutual spoke to Shalab Gupta Bibhab and Vaibhav Rane who strongly focus on brand-building activities.
Here is what they do.
Shalab Gupta Bibhab, Bibhab Capital, Agra, Uttar Pradesh
At every meeting, I gift my client/prospect a sapling that bears the company name and logo. As the sapling stays with them, it draws their attention and triggers brand recall. In fact, I always keep ten such saplings in my car for unplanned meetings.
Further, I always wear a business suit and my team is also professionally dressed for every meeting. The office staff has a dress code too which bears the company name and logo. This develops a corporate image and strengthens brand value.
Another important thing is visibility. I try to contribute at least one article every month to various local publications, magazines, websites, etc. This kind of visibility not only widens my reach but also boosts brand value.
Vaibhav Rane, SIP MAN ®, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Being a strong believer in the potential of SIPs, I created a new identity for myself - 'SIP MAN’, which is now trademark registered and speaks volumes about my passion for mutual funds.
My visiting cards, website and email signature carry this identity. Moreover, I also display it as my WhatsApp profile picture and incorporate it in every educational creative that I share with investors. A repetitive display of ‘SIP MAN’ made investors familiar with it which in turn created a personal connect with them.
Over time, they began thinking of me every time they heard of SIP.
‘SIP MAN’ has now become my brand identity and lets investors know they can reach out to me for all their SIP needs.
