The government has directed investors to link their mutual fund folios with Aadhaar. With the deadline coming closer, here are a few things you can do to make the process easy for your clients.
Make personal visits
Ranchi based Pradeep Kumar Jain of PMPK Wealth and his team meet clients personally and get their Aadhaar linked with the folios. “We have already helped 2500 clients of our 4000 clients to link their Aadhaar details with MF folios. In my view, by personally going and getting the Aadhaar updated, we show our clients how dedicated we are. In addition, this exercise gives us an opportunity to meet our clients. In fact, I am planning to meet those clients who have stopped investing with us to reconnect with them,” he says.
Send WhatsApp alerts
Mumbai based Vaibhav Rane sends WhatsApp alerts to his clients asking them to update their Aadhaar details. “After sending messages on Aadhaar update, I follow up with them periodically. This activity has encouraged many clients to complete this task. Once I get the confirmation from the client that he has linked his Aadhaar with the folio, I stop sending him the reminders,” he says.
Send mailers
Since all the registrars have facilitated online linkage of Aadhaar, many advisors have sent a mail to their clients with the links.
Chennai-based AK Narayan of AK Narayan associates says that he has been sending reminders about linking of Aadhaar on emails. “A mail with a step by step guide on how to update the details with each registrar along with the links, goes a long way in helping the clients complete task seamlessly, he says.
The last date for linking Aadhaar is December 31, 2017.
