The pandemic has changed the way we work and live. It becomes imperative to deal with the changing scenario positively while quickly adapting to it.
Introspection may help in knowing if we are effectively equipped to adapt to the new normal.
Cafemutual approached Amalaraj Marian of AMFinserve Financial Services, Nashik and Maninder Singh Chadha from Jalandhar with a few self-reflective questions. Here is what they have to say.
#1 - Am I actively connecting with prospects daily
Virtual meeting and telephonic calls have largely replaced physical meetings. While many miss the presence of human touch, the use of online platforms and apps helps connect with clients/prospects seamlessly.
Amalaraj and Maninder virtually connect with clients at a platform of their comfort such as telephone, Zoom, WhatsApp, etc. They also insist clients for physical meetings wherever possible. For these meetings, they prepare discussion points and set aside adequate time for them.
#2 - Am I being empathetic towards my clients
Times have been challenging and people need some empathy. Amalaraj shared with us that when one of his clients lost his life to the virus, he helped the family of the deceased to deal with banks and insurance companies apart from helping them get proceeds from mutual fund companies.
Maninder said that he voluntarily paid the SIPs of his few clients who were otherwise looking to stop/pause the SIPs due to a job loss or pay cut. This gesture touched the heart of his clients who will be returning the amount in near future.
Both Amalaraj and Maninder went that extra mile and completely empathized with their clients.
#3 - Am I ready with a succession plan
The second wave of the pandemic yet again highlighted the importance of succession planning. Having a succession plan in place continues the legacy of business and safeguards clients’ interest.
Amalaraj has included his family as well as some of his team members in his succession plan. He has been providing adequate training to his team members to make them capable of shouldering bigger responsibilities. Further, he is also contemplating the conversion of his proprietary concern into a partnership firm.
Maninder, who is currently running his business as a proprietor has been looking into establishing an LLP.
#4 - Am I upgrading my skills
Professional development is a continuous process. It helps in staying at the top of the game.
Amalaraj completed online certification on retirement readiness, fundamental analysis, valuation, investing in arts & artifacts, etc. Further, as always, he keeps himself engaged in reading informative articles and books.
Maninder has been a regular at reading articles published by online media and closely observes social media platforms. This helps him in staying abreast of the latest happenings.
