More than 150 women in India have wealth of over Rs 1000 crore each, shows the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2019.
The report shows that currently there are 953 such individuals having a minimum wealth of Rs 1,000 crore. Of this, 16% or 152 women have net worth of more than Rs 1000 crore each.
The richest woman in the list is 37-year-old Roshni Nadar of HCL with a net worth of Rs. 36,800 crore. Next in the list is 68-year-old Smita V Crishna of Godrej, with a net worth of Rs 31,400 crore.
While most of these women have inherited wealth, the report also features 12 self-made women with net worth of over Rs 1000 crore. The richest self-made woman in India is biotechnology queen Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon with Rs 18,500 crore wealth.
Another interesting fact is the representation of young women in this list. As many as 22 women under the age of 40 feature in the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2019.
Nearly 40% of the women in the list derive their wealth from pharmaceuticals, software and services and FMCG sectors.
