    SEBI forms committee on fair market conduct

    The committee will suggest measures to improve surveillance of markets.

    SEBI has setup a committee to review its regulations and take surveillance measures to check manipulative practices.

    T.K. Viswanathan, Ex Secretary General, Lok Sabha and Ex Law Secretary will head this committee. Representatives of law firms, mutual funds, retail brokers, institutional brokers, forensic auditing firms, foreign portfolio investors, stock exchanges, chambers of commerce and data analytics firms will be members of this committee.

    The committee will suggest short term and medium term measures to improve surveillance of the markets. It will also provide measures to check manipulative trades and improve harnessing of technology.

    The committee will submit its recommendations within four months.
