    Goa, Chandigarh and Haryana among top 5 states with highest per capita AUM

    New Delhi becomes the top state having the highest AUM per capita overtaking Maharashtra.

    Goa ranked second in terms of per capita AUM of Rs.1.13 lakh i.e. total MF AUM of state divided by its population. Surprisingly, Goa was ahead of Maharashtra with per capital AUM of Rs.96,668. New Delhi has become the top state having the highest per capita AUM.

    While Chandigarh captured fourth position at Rs.70,653 as per AMFI data for October 2019. In the fifth and sixth positions were Haryana at Rs.47,360 and Karnataka at Rs.30,661 respectively.  

    Among the top 10 states that were ranked as per the per capita AUM were New Delhi, Goa, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim and West Bengal.

    However, in terms of AUM as a percentage of GDP, Goa stood at the third position (35%), surpassing Haryana (27.6%), Karnataka (26.7%) and Chandigarh (25.6). Here Maharashtra held the first rank (64.4%) followed by New Delhi (51%) among 10 states. 

    Meanwhile, Manipur, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram were states at the bottom in terms of both per capita AUM and AUM as a percentage of GDP.  

    Apart from Uttar Pradesh which had AUM as 10.6% of GDP, other top 9 states had AUM percentage of GDP above 11%. Manipur had the lowest AUM to GDP percentage at 2.7%.
