    SIP contribution reaches new peak in October but equity inflows shrink

    Hybrid schemes record net inflows of Rs. 10,400 crore largely due to an NFO.

    SIP growth trend remained on track in October as investors have pumped in record Rs.10.519 crore through the systematic route. The inflows has pushed SIP AUM to a new high of Rs.5.54 lakh crore, shows latest data released by AMFI.

    However, net inflows in equity schemes have declined to Rs. 5,215 crore compared to Rs. 8,677 crore in September.

    “Net positive flows during October 2021 in all categories of open-ended mutual fund schemes be it debt, equity, hybrid, solutions-oriented, or index, FoFs or ETFs coupled with continued buoyancy in SIP flows at historic high has peaked overall AAUM to an all-time high of Rs.38.21 lakh crores,” CEO of AMFI, N S Venkatesh said.

    Debt funds have recorded net inflows of Rs.12,984 crore despite Rs.10,200 crore net outflow from liquid schemes.

    Hybrid schemes have also recorded net inflows of over Rs.10,400 crore due to inflows of Rs.5,200 during the NFO of NJ BAF.

    Equity schemes

    • Inflows in open-ended equity schemes have declined to Rs.5,215 crore from Rs.8,667 crore in September
    • Except ELSS and value funds, all major fund categories have registered net inflows
    • Thematic and flexi cap funds have brought in highest inflows at Rs.1,734 crore and Rs.1,122 crore, respectively
    • Rs.488 crore moved out of ELSS. Thematic funds have seen outflow of Rs.349 crore

    Debt schemes

    • Inflows in debt funds was back in the positive zone in October. The category has recorded net inflows of Rs.12,984 crore
    • Overnight and floater funds have witnessed highest net inflows at Rs.6,337 crore and Rs.5,050 crore, respectively
    • Liquid funds and short duration funds have seen outflows of Rs.10,200 crore and Rs.2,666 crore, respectively

    Hybrid schemes

    • Boosted by Rs.5,216 crore collection by NJ Balanced Advantage Fund, the hybrid category has posted Rs.10,437 crore net inflow in October
    • Arbitrage funds have registered net outflow for the second consecutive month

    Overall trend

    • Industry AAUM has risen to a new all-time-high of Rs.38.2 lakh crore. In September, the AAUM was Rs.37.4 lakh crore
    • Monthly SIP contribution has increased to a new record in October. Investors have pumped in Rs.10,519 crore through the SIP route last month
    • SIP accounts have risen to 4.6 crore from 4.4 crore in September 2021
    • Ten NFOs were launched in October and they together mobilised Rs.7,734 crore
