    HDFC MF maintains lead in debt AUM, SBI MF a close second

    Nippon India MF joins 1-lakh crore debt AUM club with 7% rise in assets in Q2 FY2022.

    HDFC, SBI and ICICI Prudential are the biggest mutual funds in the debt space. An analysis of quarterly average AUM of the September quarter shows that HDFC MF has the highest debt AUM at Rs.2.30 lakh crore, followed by SBI MF, which has an AUM of Rs.2.20 lakh crore.

    ICICI Prudential MF has a debt AUM of Rs.2.10 lakh crore.

    The average AUM taken into consideration includes liquid funds, gilt funds and other debt oriented schemes.

    Comparing the Q2 AUM data with the previous quarter shows that HDFC MF's assets have risen 2%, while ICICI Prudential witnessed a 1% decline in AUM. The assets of SBI MF remained more or less the same.

    Among the top 10, Axis, Aditya Birla Sun Life and Nippon India registered the highest rise in debt AUM in the second quarter. Their assets went up 7-8%.

    DSP MF suffered the biggest loss in debt AUM among all major mutual funds. The debt AUM of the 10th-placed fund house fell 13% to Rs.36,563 crore from Rs.42,104 crore in Q1.

    Overall, there were 14 fund houses with a debt AUM of over Rs.10,000 crore. Of these, six are managing debt assets worth over Rs.1 lakh crore.
