    Axis, ICICI Pru and SBI: Top three fund house in equity assets

    Axis leads the pack while ICICI Prudential and SBI occupy the second and third spots in equity AUM ranking; PGIM India’s equity assets grows the fastest in Q3.

    Axis, ICICI Prudential and SBI are the top three mutual fund players in the equity space. In fact, they are also among the fastest growing large fund houses with around 10% growth in their equity AUM in the third quarter of 2020-2021.

    An analysis by Cafemutual shows that Axis MF's average equity AUM has reached Rs. 1.40 lakh crore in Q3 2021-2022 with 10% quarter-on-quarter growth. Second-placed ICICI Prudential has recorded a 9% growth in equity AUM at Rs. 1.30 lakh crore.

    SBI, HDFC and Aditya Birla Sun Life have come next in the top five list.

    Among the top 10, highest growth in equity AUM was recorded by Kotak Mahindra and UTI. With 11% growth, their equity AUM rose to Rs. 86,782 crore and Rs. 70,085 crore, respectively.

    Data of Principal MF could not be sourced as the fund house has merged with Sundaram MF.

    'PGIM India and Quant fastest growing MFs in equity space'

    The equity AUM of PGIM India has risen by 51% in Q3 to Rs. 8,376 crore, making it the fastest growing mutual fund in the equity space. Quant MF was next in line with 45% surge in equity AUM.

    HSBC, Mahindra Manulife and PPFAS were other mutual funds with over 30% growth in equity AUM.
