June 2023 data shows that the top 30 fund houses (in terms of June 2023 quarterly average AUM) have Rs 20.50 lakh crore of direct average AUM. This accounts for 46% of their total monthly MF business.

In absolute terms, seven fund houses have over Rs 1 lakh crore of direct assets. With a direct average AUM of Rs 4.71 lakh crore, SBI MF takes a huge lead here. ICICI Prudential MF and HDFC MF follow next with Rs 2.52 lakh crore and Rs 2.24 lakh crore, respectively.

Nippon India MF, Kotak MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF and Axis MF are the other four fund houses in the Rs 1 lakh crore-plus group. They have direct assets of Rs 1.75 lakh crore, Rs 1.59 lakh crore, Rs 1.53 lakh crore and Rs 1.11 lakh crore, respectively.
